Ieri sera, dopo settimane a rinviare, finalmente siamo andati tutti insieme all’“Eye on Malaysia”, la nuova ruota panoramica aperta per celebrare il 50° anno di indipendenza del paese. Sul sito ufficiale dicono che sia la più grande del mondo, non so, ma sicuramente è bella grande. In zona non c’è molto altro, a parte qualche bar e bancarella o ambulanti che vendono giocattoli luminosi, perciò ci siamo messi subito in fila per i biglietti. Pensavo che ci avremmo messo almeno un’ora per salire, invece in poco più di mezz’ora ce la siamo cavata. La nota dolente è che mentre aspettavamo, coperti dalle strutture metalliche, si è svolto lo spettacolo nel lago circostante, con sci e moto d’acqua, luci e fuochi artificiali. Comunque siamo saliti nella nostra cabina, ed è stata una sorpresa vedere che c’era persino l’aria condizionata! Purtroppo secondo me è un’arma a doppio taglio, perché da una parte rende la permanenza piacevole, ma dall’altra fa condensare l’aria calda fuori, e così i vetri sono coperti di condensa e impediscono una chiara visuale. Per fortuna, essendo la cabina occupata da otto persone, il calore dei nostri corpi ha riscaldato l’aria e fatto sparire gran parte della condensa. Il giro è stato abbastanza lungo, e sul lago siamo riusciti ad intravedere uno spettacolo olografico, con immagini proiettate su nubi di vapore, molto suggestivo.

Alla fine del giro abbiamo passeggiato un po’ in riva al lago, e quindi siamo tornati a casa.

Yesterday night, after several weeks delaying, we finally went to the “Eye on Malaysia”, the new portable wheel built for the Visit Malaysia 2007 celebration. On the official website they say it is the biggest in the world, dunno, for sure it is pretty large. There’s not much else around, only few bars, stalls and few ambulant sellers offering luminous toys, so we queued for the entrance tickets. I thought it would take 1 hour at least, instead we got rid of it in less than 40 minutes. The sad thing is that while we were waiting, covered by the metal structures, there was the show in the lake around the wheel, with water-ski, motorboats, lights and fireworks. Anyway we went up our gondola, and it was a surprise to see that there was even aircon! Unfortunately, to me it seems like having some side effects, because on one hand it makes your trip pleasant, but on the other hand it makes the air outside to condensate, so the glasses were covered by the condensed air and we couldn’t totally enjoy the view. Luckily we were 8 people in the gondola, so our body heat made the temperature to raise up, making the view much better. The trip was quite long, and we managed to see an hologram show on the lake, with images projected on vapour clouds, very impressing.

At the end of the tour we had a walk a bit on the lakeside, then went home.
