Anche questa settimana è andata, godendoci la vita familiare con la mamma e la sorella di Nina. Sabato scorso siamo andati tutti insieme al Luna Bar, e per la prima volta abbiamo dovuto pagare il biglietto di ingresso, essendo arrivati dopo le nove (50 RM, alla faccia…). Nina era molto euforica nel portare la sua famiglia in un bar del genere, sul tetto di un grattacielo, al 33° piano. Invece, la cara Signora Myrna non si è per niente divertita (vedete la foto…) visto che mancava una qualsiasi forma di intrattenimento (cabarettista, live-band, …), insomma non valeva il biglietto di ingresso, anche perché nella loro provincia nelle Filippine basta camminare sulla cime del colle per godere del panorama gratis. E così il tempo di un drink e siamo tornati a casa.

Ieri sera invece abbiamo avuto un’ospite d’onore, Vivienne. Lei e Nina hanno studiato insieme sin dalla scuola superiore, e questa settimana si trovava in Malesia per lavoro, così l’abbiamo invitata a cena. Abbiamo mangiato proprio tanto, io ho cucinato la pasta alle cime di rapa e Nina delle polpette di pesce.

In questi giorni le foto delle vacanze di Natale sono state caricate sul sito, buona visione.

And another week has gone, enjoying the family life with Nina’s mom and sister. Last Saturday we went altogether to the Luna Bar, and for the first time we had to pay the entrance fee, since we arrived there after 9 PM (50 RM…). Nina was very exited for taking her family in such a nice bar, on the top of a skyscraper, at the 33^th floor. Instead the dear Mrs Myrna did not like it at all (see the picture…) since there was no entertainment (cabaret, live music, …), and it was not worth the entrance fee, also because in their province in the Philippines it takes only a walk on the hillside to enjoy the view, for free. And so we spent there just the time for a drink and we went home.

Yesterday night instead we had a special guest, Vivienne. She and Nina studied together from the high school, and this week she was in Malaysia for work, so we invited her for dinner We really ate a lot, I cooked my pasta with broccoli and Nina some fishballs.

Come sempre accade, uno non fa in tempo a dire che tutto va bene, che subito succede qualcosa. Tranquilli, nulla di grave, solo uno dei tanti fastidi che capitano da queste parti. Dovete sapere, che dalla scorsa estate è in atto una massiccia campagna informativa per far registrare le schede SIM dei cellulari, dato che fino alla scorsa primavera ciò non era richiesto. Il termine per la registrazione era il 15 Dicembre, così mi sono registrato in Ottobre. Ora torno dalle vacanze e il telefono non funziona, giovedì scorso ho chiesto spiegazioni e mi hanno assicurato che nel giro di 24 ore tutto sarebbe stato a posto. Morale, oggi ho dovuto comprare una nuova scheda SIM, e quindi cambiare numero, poiché mi hanno soppresso l’altra… Per cui, chi di voi amici miei aveva il mio numero precedente e/o volesse il mio numero, mandatemi una mail che vi mando quello nuovo.

As usual, one cannot say that everything’s alright and immediately something happens. Don’t worry, nothing serious, just one of those many annoyances which are so common here. You have to know that, since last summer, a massive informative campaign is on, about the registration of the mobiles’ SIM cards, because before was not necessary. The deadline was December 15^th, so I did it in October. Now I come back from holidays and my mobile doesn’t work, last Thursday I asked for explanation and they told me it would has been ok in max 24 hours. Moral of the story, today I had to buy a new SIM card, and then change my mobile number, since mine was suppressed… For this reason, who of you my friends already had my number and/or wants my new number, just send me an email so you’ll receive the new one.

Come molti di voi sanno, io e Nina abbiamo passato le festività Natalizie in Italia. Non sto a raccontarvi per filo e per segno cosa abbiamo fatto durante le vacanze, ma per lo più abbiamo incontrato gente: parenti, amici, e chi più ne ha più ne metta, è stato stancante ma piacevole. Mi dispiace di non aver potuto incontrare proprio tutti, ma avremmo avuto bisogno della macchina del tempo, perciò sarà per la prossima volta.

Un paio di pomeriggi di libertà però ce li siamo presi, e li abbiamo trascorsi passeggiando per le rive del Lago di Garda, tra Bardolino e torri del Benaco, immersi in un’atmosfera molto conciliante.

Il ritorno a casa (ormai intendo KL per casa) è stato strano, perché contrariamente a quanto mi aspettassi sono stato felice di essere arrivato; penso sia merito delle vacanze, infatti sono tornato con molto entusiasmo alla vita quotidiana in Malesia, soprattutto al lavoro, dove ci sono delle piacevoli novità.

E a casa c’è ancora la famiglia, la Signora Myrna, Jess e Anabella; è una sensazione strana tornare a casa la sera e trovare così tante persone ad aspettarti, fa molto piacere. Oggi ho insegnato loro a preparare il pasticcio di lasagne e una torta, vediamo se apprezzeranno più tardi a cena.

Fra qualche giorno troverete anche il fotoalbum delle vacanze sul lago, pazientate un po’.

As many of you already know, me and Nina spent our Xmas holidays in Italy. I won’t describe in details what we did, anyway we basically visited people: relatives, friends, and more, it was tiring but nice. I’m sorry we couldn’t meet every single one there, but we would have needed a time machine, so it will be for the next time.

But we took a couple of free afternoons, and we spent them walking along the Garda lakeside, between Bardolino and Torri del Benaco, in a very stimulating atmosphere.

The return at home (so far I mean KL for home) was strange, because despite what I was expecting I was happy to be back; I think because the holiday had a good effect on me, in fact I started again my life in Malaysia with a lot of enthusiasm, specially at work, where there are some good news.

And ay home there still are Mrs Myrna, Jess and Anabella; it’s a nice feeling to come back home in the evening and find so many people waiting for you. Today I taught them how to prepare Lasagne and a cake, let’s see if they will like at dinner time.

In few days you’ll find the album of the holiday, just be a little patient.

Dopo due settimane di assenza, eccoci ritornati a casa. Siamo piuttosto stanchi dopo il viaggio, perciò i resoconti del viaggio in Egitto di Nina e della nostra vacanza in Italia arriveranno con calma, per ora vi auguriamo un felice anno nuovo.

After being missing for two weeks, here we are back at home. We’re quite tired from the trip, so the posts about the previous trip to Egypt of Nina and about our holiday in Italy will arrive in some time, for now we wish you a happy New Year.
