Questo weekend è iniziato con una bella mattinata in piscina, questa volta anche con Nina, per concederci un po’ di sole. Per il sabato sera invece abbiamo pensato di andare allo zoo, non molto lontano da casa nostra, che tiene aperto anche la notte. Per andarci ovviamente abbiamo dovuto aspettare la fine del classico temporale pomeridiano/serale (durante il quale abbiamo fatto le pulizie), così si sono fatte le otto in un batter d’occhio. Arrivati allo zoo proprio non sapevamo da che parte andare, perché l’illuminazione non era delle migliori. Io sono quasi morto di paura quando appena girata la testa mi sono trovato a mezzo metro dalla faccia un tacchino appollaiato, immerso nella più totale oscurità. Ci siamo fermati al teatro dove si esibiscono gli animali e abbiamo assistito ad uno show di circa venti minuti durante i quali hanno performato (svogliatamente data l’ora tarda) un tasso, un furetto, una civetta ed a sorpresa due serpenti, nascosti in contenitori tra il pubblico (immaginatevi i salti che hanno fatto delle fichette americane sedute di fianco al cesto, che usavano come supporto per fare le foto…).

Alla fine dello spettacolo ci siamo incamminati per il parco, seguendo dei turisti che avevano delle torce elettriche. Abbiamo visto ippopotami, giraffe, fenicotteri, felini selvatici ed elefanti, ed ogni tanto il silenzio veniva rotto dai ruggiti dei leoni, che sembravano essere liberi e a caccia di prede. In realtà sia i leoni sia la tigre se ne stavano tranquilli nei loro posti.

Dopo lo zoo siamo tornati a casa per la cena, pasticcio, e visto che si era fatta mezzanotte siamo filati a dormire.

Oggi invece siamo andati a pranzo dal mio capo, che ha organizzato una “Open House”. C’erano dei tendoni in giardino, ed un servizio di catering con cibo tipico malese.

Dopo un paio d’ore siamo tornati a casa, per rilassarci un po’ e prepararci ad una nuova settimana.

This weekend started with a swimming pool morning session, this time with Nina, to get some sun. For the Saturday night we planned to go to the night zoo, not far from our house. Before going obviously we had to wait the end of the typical afternoon/evening storm (during which we did some house cleaning), so it turned 8 PM very fast. Once arrived at the zoo we didn’t know where to go, because the illumination was not that good. I got frightened to death when I turned left my head and I saw a goose standing half metre far from my face, in a total darkness. We stopped at the theatre, where some animals exhibit, and we watched a twenty minutes show during which an otter, a coon, an owl (all lackadaisical for the late hour) and a couple of snakes, hidden in baskets among the people (you can imagine the jumps of the American chicks sitting beside a basket and using it as place for the camera…).

At the end of the show we started to walk in the park, following some tourist with a flashlight. We saw hippos, giraffes, flamingos, wild cats and elephants, and once in a while the roar of the lions was breaking the silence, giving the impression that they were free and hunting. Instead both lions and the tiger were quite in their places.

After the zoo we went back home for dinner, lasagne, and since it turned midnight we went to sleep.

Today we have been to my boss’ house for lunch, since he organized his “Open House”. There were tents in the garden, and a catering service with Malay food.

After a couple of hours we went home, to relax a bit and prepare for a new week.
