Ecco due cose che mancavano al repertorio; una limousine malese (scusate per la scarsa qualità della foto ma ero in autostrada), che altro non è che una Perdana (la stessa auto dei taxi premiere) allungata. Da fuori non dà per niente la sensazione di essere lussuosa.

E poi c’è questo tipo di fanali: giallo rosso e blu. La sicurezza prima di tutto eh?

Here two things I was still missing; a Malay limo (sorry for the bad quality of the picture, I was on the highway), that is nothing but a long Perdana (the car for the premiere taxi). From outside it doesn’t give at all a luxury feeling.

And then there’s this type of lights: yellow, red and blue. Safety first eh?

In questi ultimi giorni la situazione meteo sta migliorando decisamente; piogge e vento stanno spazzando via la foschia, se continua così dovremmo avere un bel weekend dal cielo limpido.

Per la patente ho scoperto che devo convertirla, e questo significa un altro viaggio a Putrajaya, nel labirinto degli uffici pubblici e del lusso più sfrenato.

Questa settimana ho fatto qualche prova per andare al lavoro più tardi del solito, ma per il treno è proprio una guerra, almeno fino alle 8:30. Però il lato positivo è che arrivato alla stazione, non c’è nessuno che prende il taxi, anzi, ce ne sono sempre due o tre ad aspettare passeggeri. Le altre settimane invece dovevo aspettare anche un quarto d’ora prima di trovare un passaggio, sul ciglio di una strada dove il numero di veicoli che passa è allucinante, e ciò si traduce in una nuvola di smog costante. Sto proprio pensando che mi conviene spingere un po’ per salire in treno, ma se riesco a risparmiare l’intossicazione quotidiana sono sicuro che ne valga la pena.

In these last days the weather situation is getting better; rain and wind are taking the haze away, if it continues like this we should have a nice weekend with a clear sky.

For my driving licence, I have to convert it, it means another trip to Putrajaya, in the maze of luxury and public offices.

This week I’ve been trying to go to work later than usual, but the train is a war indeed, at least until 8:30. The bright side is that arrived to the station, there’s nobody who takes the taxi, instead there are always two or three cabs waiting for passengers. The pervious weeks I had to wait even 15 minutes before getting a ride, on the side of a road where the quantity of vehicles assign by is huge, and it means a constant smog cloud. I am seriously considering that it’s better push a little bit to get on the train, ‘cause if I can avoid the daily intoxication I think it’s worth.

Oggi ne sono successe un po’ da raccontare:

1.      Il mio capo mi ha detto che forse mi procura una macchina da usare, intanto si sta informando cosa debba fare per convertire la mia patente. Su questo vi aggiornerò.

2.      Per motivi di lavoro oggi siamo passati per un allevamento di struzzi, e vederli dal vivo fa proprio impressione; poi facevano dei versi stranissimi contro di noi e facevano i minacciosi, come quello che vedete nella foto. Tutti fighi a fare i duri quando si è dentro ad un recinto… Comunque c’erano anche molti altri animali.

3.      Ho sentito ala radio uno spot dal contenuto piuttosto ameno: un messaggio del ministero del commercio pro-shopping intelligente, che raccomandava alle casalinghe di valutare e scegliere il prodotto più conveniente invece di lanciarsi in acquisti sfrenati mangia-stipendi.

4.      Stasera Nina mi ha portato a cena in un posto meraviglioso, il ristorante Tamarind Spring: un’atmosfera rilassante dove il rosso ed il legno la facevano da padroni, con musica lounge e lume di candela. La cucina proponeva l’esperienza della tradizione culinaria del sud est asiatico, purtroppo le luci basse non mi hanno permesso di capire cos’avevo nel piatto, ma abbiamo comunque apprezzato molto. Mi è quasi sembrato di essere ritornato in Cambogia, da consigliare…

Today there are some things to tell about:

1.      My boss told me that maybe I will arrange me a car, for now he is verifying if I need to do anything to my licence. I will update you on that.

2.      For working reason today we walked by an ostrich farm, and to see them from real was amazing; furthermore they were making strange sounds and they were baleful, like the one in the picture. It’s easy to be tough when you’re protected by a fence… Anyway they also had many other animals.

3.      I heard at the radio an uncommon commercial: a message from the ministry of trading for an intelligent shopping, recommending to the housewives to check and choose the most convenient product instead of buying everything burning salaries.

4.    Tonight Nina brought me to an incredible restaurant, the Tamarind Spring: a relaxing atmosphere where the red and the wood were dominating, with lounge music and candle light. The food was a fusion of the south east Asia tradition, but the low light didn’t allow me to understand what I had in my plate, even though we really appreciated. It felt like being in Cambodia again, a place to suggest…

 

Anche oggi siamo avvolti dalla foschia, orami tutti sperano nella pioggia, anche perché senza precipitazioni sta facendo proprio caldo. Giusto per divagare da questa situazione vi mostro un altro paio di auto che ho fotografato tempo addietro. La prima ce la presenta Manuel, scusate se non si vede bene, ma vi invito a notare la scritta sul cofano “Ti amo baby”.

L’altra auto invece ero riuscito a fotografarla al volo col cellulare passando in macchina qualche settimana fa. Niente di speciale, si può fare di meglio.

The haze is besetting us also today, everybody is begging some rain, also because without any rainfall it’s getting really hot. I show you a couple of cars I shooted some time ago, just to digress from this situation. The first one is presented by Manuel, I am sorry that it is not very visible, but I invite you to notice the write on the cowl “Love u babe”.

The other car instead was taken with my mobile while driving by few weeks ago. Nothing special, could be better.

Avete presente il bel tramonto di ieri? Beh, scordatevelo, perché nelle ultime 24 ore, senza una goccia di pioggia, la foschia è tornata a farla da padrona, ed il risultato lo potete vedere nella foto: un bel tramonto senza colori, addirittura senza Twin Towers…

Andando in giro è possibile sentire il sapore dell’aria, che sa un po’ di fumo, e sta mietendo innumerevoli vittime per quanto riguarda mal di gola e raffreddori.

A malincuore dobbiamo cenare dentro, senza lume di candela e panorama, sperando che domani vada meglio.

Do you remember the beautiful sunset yesterday? Well, forget it, because in the last 24 hours, without a single rain drop, the haze has come back to rule, and the result is what you see in the picture: a nice sunset without colours, even without Twin Towers…

Going around it is possible to taste the air, which is a little smoke flavoured, and that is causing throat aches and colds to a lot of people.

Unwillingly we have to have dinner inside, with no candle light and no sight, hoping that tomorrow it will be better.
