Stamattina, per motivi di lavoro, sono andato alla University of Nottingham (hanno stabilito un campus qui in Malesia), e subito ho desiderato di poter tornare indietro di qualche anno ed iscrivermi, anche se sono operativi solo dal semestre scorso. Vantano 2500 studenti (stimano di arrivare presto a 3500, tetto massimo stabilito) provenienti da 48 paesi diversi, quattro facoltà, alloggi per gli studenti, centro sportivo con campi da gioco e piscina, più un ristorante. Ho visto anche che molti premi Nobel hanno studiato presso questa istituzione.

Appena arrivati sono rimasto a bocca aperta per via del lago coi cigni, circondato da un prato pieno di fiori e sovrastato dall’edificio principale, bianco, con una torre con l’orologio (il lago e la torre sono un simbolo di questa università). Sul retro una piazza rotonda, con una fontana in centro, circondata da cinque edifici, ognuno di un colore diverso (uno scorcio lo vedete nella foto, non è molto chiara ma la prossima volta farò di meglio). Il tutto ai piedi delle colline malesi, coperte dalle palme e dalla vegetazione che cresce rigogliosa, rese ancor più affascinanti dalla giornata di sole regalataci oggi (che sia finita la foschia?). Il professore che abbiamo incontrato ed il suo assistente sono stati molto cordiali, e probabilmente ci vedremo ancora. Non vedo l’ora!

This morning, for working reasons, I went to the University of Nottingham (they built a campus here in Malaysia), and I immediately wished to turn back time few years and apply to study there, even if they are opened only since this semester. They brag 2500 students (but they estimate the number will soon increase up to 3500, their maximum capacity) from 48 different countries, four faculties, housing for students, sports centre with fields and swimming pool, plus a restaurant. I also saw that many Nobel prizes studied in this university.

Immediately, when we arrived, I got amazed by the lake with swans, surrounded by a meadow full of flowers and overtopped by the main building, white, with a clock tower (the lake and the tower are the symbols of the university). On the back a round square, with a fountain in the middle, surrounded by five buildings, each one of a different colour (you can have a taste of it in the picture, it's not the best but next time I will do better). The whole thing under the Malaysian hills, covered with palms and with the flourishing vegetation, rendered even more beautiful by the sunny day donated us today (maybe the haze is over?). The professor we met and his assistant were very kind, and probably we’ll meet again. I hope it’ll be soon!
