Stasera tornando a casa ho preso il taxi più figo della Malesia: era pieno di cuscini e c’era anche la TV! Ovviamente non si vedeva niente ma l’autista ne andava fiero… Mi diceva che ha messo il televisore per intrattenere i clienti quando c’è colonna, ma soprattutto per lui, quando non c’è nessuno da portare, perché ha paura di stare da solo e farsi trasportare dai pensieri. Ad ogni modo non era il tipo di tassista che ha bisogno della TV per intrattenere un passeggero, era cordiale e abbiamo chiacchierato per tutto il tragitto. Era il classico tassista da film, di quelli che ormai hanno visto di tutto, vissuti fin dentro alle ossa.

In quel televisore si è guardato i mondiali, non so come abbia potuto distinguere le squadre (era in bianco e nero), ma soprattutto vedere il pallone…

This evening, coming home, I caught the most cool taxi in Malaysia: it was full of pillows and it also had a TV! Obviously I couldn’t see anything but the driver was very proud of it… He told me that he put the TV for entertaining passengers in case of traffic jams, but most pf all for himself, when there’s nobody to carry, because he was afraid of staying alone and fly with his thoughts. Anyway he wasn’t the kind of taxi driver who needs a TV for entertain his passenger, he was nice and we talked all ride long. He was the classic movie taxi driver, one of those who already have seen everything, dwelt till inside his bones.

With that TV he watched the world cup, I don’t know how he managed to distinguish the teams (it was black and white), but mainly how he could see the ball…
