Lo scorso giovedì siamo stati invitati da uno dei superiori di Nina al Luna bar (su un terrazzo al 34° piano di un palazzo, foto sopra) per celebrare il suo addio, visto che si trasferisce in un’altra sede in America. Visto il posto l’invito è stato apprezzatissimo; oltre alla bellezza del bar c’era un buffet super, con salatini, pizza, costolette di agnello, manzo, pasta e salmone. I camerieri provvedevano a raccogliere i piatti e a non far mancare mai i drink a nessuno. La serata si è protratta un paio d’ore più a lungo del previsto, ma ne è valsa la pena. Ho fatto conoscenza con altri colleghi di Nina e con le rispettive consorti, e tutti sono stati molto simpatici e piacevoli.

Sempre a proposito di inviti, sono appena andati via da casa nostra Yahya, la sua fidanzata e Paul, che erano venuti per pranzo come promesso; e come promesso Yahya ci ha portato qualche birra, mentre a sorpresa Paul si è presentato con una torta al cioccolato enorme di Secret Receipe, negozio di torte rinomato.

Il pranzo è stato a base di manicaretti filippini, molto buoni, e ovviamente torta. Abbiamo passato qualche ora rilassante in buona compagnia, ma ora siamo esausti, perciò appena finito di sistemare ci concederemo un po’ di riposo…

Ora che ho iniziato a lavorare il weekend assume tutto un altro aspetto, non l’ho mai vissuto sotto quest’ottica, visto che a casa durante il weekend lavoravo, e non mi dispiace per niente avere solo due giorni su sette liberi.

Last Thursday we’ve been invited by one of Nina’s boss at the Luna bar (on a terrace at the 34th floor of a skyscraper, pic above) to celebrate his farewell, since he’s moving to America. Seeing the place the invitation was very appreciated; other than the beauty of the bar there were also a buffet super, with cocktail snacks, pizza, lamb ribs, beef, pasta and salmon. The waiters were enduing to collect the plates and not leaving anybody without a drink. The night extended a couple of hours more than we planned, but it was worth. I met other colleagues of Nina and the respective spouses, and all of them were very nice and pleasant.

Talking ‘bout invitations, Yahya, his girlfriend and Paul have just left our place, since they came for lunch as promised; and as promised Yahya brought some beers, while Paul surprised us with a great chocolate cake from Secret Receipe, a famous cakes shop here.

The lunch was made of Filipino delicacies, and obviously, cake. We spent few hours relaxing together, but now we’re exhausted, so when we finish to order the house we’ll take some rest…

Now that I have started to work the weekend looks different, I never lived it under this view, since at home I used to work during the weekend, and I don’t dislike at all to have only two free days on seven.

Per questo mese  ci fermiamo col corso di Bahasa Melayu, perché Richard e Tiff non ci saranno per la maggior parte del tempo, e abbiamo bisogno di un po’ di tempo anche per assimilare quello che abbiamo imparato il mese scorso. Così, di mercoledì e venerdì saremo liberi, e probabilmente ci troverete da Santini, Starbucks, al cinema, a dormire o a fare la lavatrice.

For this month, we are also temporarily stopping our Bahasa Malaysia class, since Richard and Tiff are going to be away most of the time, and we needed some time to internalize what we have been learning this past month. Thus, Wednesdays and Fridays for us are free, and so probably you will find us either in Santini’s , in Starbucks, in the movies, sleeping, or doing the laundry.
